There are three words to describe how I fell about this book and those words are...I need more!!
I couldn't put this book down, it was a rollercoaster of a ride with twists, turns and loops. Normally I struggle to read books written by two people as sometimes their writing doesn't blend but with this you can't work out where one author finishes and the other starts. One of the best things about this book has to be how you get a point of view from both sisters and not just one, how they have lived, how they are feeling and how they change as you turn the pages of this 507 paged book.
This book follows two sisters, one raised to be pristine and beautiful amongst Lords and Ladies; the other rough around the edges raised by the sea with witches. Both longing and fighting for the right to sit on the throne. Twins separated at birth must come together to bring both of their worlds together. This book has mystery, death, fighting, pretty ballgowns, handsome guards/witches, characters of the LGBTQ+ community and a beauty that they call Elske. It holds all tropes of a Rom-com YA fiction book that people of all ages will love.
What more could you want in a book?
Now that I have finished it I want to read it all over again, my mind is reeling and full of questions but alas those questions will have to wait until 2023 when Cursed Crowns is released to the book shelves (I have already pre-ordered an exclusive edition with sprayed edges, thank you Waterstones). Would I recommend this book? 100% yes, it will have you smiling and shocked all with the turn of a page.
Trigger Warnings: Mild Violence and Injury, Death of Parent, Mentions of War, Murder and Persecution.
Happy Reading!
