I will say straight away that unfortunately I didn't finish this book, it wasn't particularly my cup of tea but please don't let that put you off reading Stacey's novel.

I adore the worldbuilding, you all know me by now I love being able to picture in my head what it is authors are describing. Everything that Stacey is describing I can see clearly and feel which makes me feel as if I am apart of this book. Something this book does lack is the description in the bedroom, I struggled to figure out in my head what was happening and what was happening as there wasn't much description until someone moaned.

At the beginning of the novel before you even get to the map you have the pronunciations and the trigger warnings. I personally really like that Stacey has written these at the beginning of the book as sometimes some triggers can be a surprise for some people and can cause them distress and upset which isn't something you really want when reading or writing a novel. Another thing I liked was the font used for the letter at the beginning, it was nice and easy to read whereas sometimes authors use font that can be a bit difficult to read especially if it is depicting old-fashioned handwriting. Something that I would possibly change in this book would be the layout, the writing is quite chunky which makes it a slow read and can make it hard to follow (especially on a screen). The lack of names does a number on me too, there were a few times I was confused as characters were being referred to as nouns instead of their names e.g. 'The Assassin', 'The Elf' and 'The Syren'. I did love the banter between Lorrin and Zemir, it was quite sarcastic and playful which I think really builds up the relationship and character development between the two characters.

I adore the cover of this book, the colours used are beautiful, I feel as if I can physically pick up the fabric on the front and the dagger on the front is gorgeous.

Again this isn't my type of book but that doesn't mean it isn't yours so please don't be put off if you want to read this book yourself. I would hate to think you now aren't going to read it based on my opinions, please read it and make up your own mind.
