The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien

Book: The Hobbit

Author: J.R.R.Tolkien

Publication Date: 21st September 1937

I would first like to apologise for this post, I think there will be quite a few of you lovely readers who will disagree with what I have to say and that is...I don't like The Hobbit.

Firstly fantasy I adore, the world J.R.R.Tolkien has created is superb, Lord of the Rings love it, The Rings of Power thing of genius but this book I just couldn't get into.

Normally I am a speedy reader but this book

took me months to read. I don't know what it was I didn't like but I do know my favourite part was the riddles between Bilbo and Gollum. My mum has always said to me growing up "Georgie, if you start a book finish it you might grow to like it" and I have always stuck to that, so I did with this one but it did take me a good few months to finish... and I still didn't like it come the end.

Some might say "It's a classic!" or "How can you not like it, you love fantasy novels?" and in all honesty I have no idea why I dislike it so. I love the films, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, even the TV series The Rings of Power. But this book just doesn't do it for me,

Trigger Warnings: Spiders, War, Bloodshed, Gruesome Detailing, Smoking, Drinking, Kidnapping & Captivity, Death and Whipping.

Happy Reading!
