Book 31 Of The Year
First of all I want to thank S.C. Grayson for letting me read and review this book. It was published last year when I didn't know her and upon hearing that I hadn't read it straight, she sent me this book as an eArc so I would know what her sequel Chaos and Crowns is about. But that is a review for next time, right now I am going to focus on Spears and Shadows. I am always thankful to you and your amazing masterpieces.
I didn't like this book...I loved it!! I received this as an arc and it has to be my favourite that S.C. Grayson has written.
Straight away on the first page we are thrown into the deep end of the story. Along with Nora we meet her prosthetic wearing sister Odelle. I love some of the lines in this book, my favourite has to be "Ken Doll of a man.". It made me laugh that much that I had to message Grayson about it, I think this is the perfect description for the character. Another line that made me chuckle was "Insufferable fungus waffle" it is the perfect thing to say without getting into too much trouble!
The descriptions and worldbuilding like always are outstanding from Grayson. Sensory descriptions are genius and exactly what is needed when you read it, you feel alive in her books and it is something as we know that I love. Grayson writes flawlessly, this is one of those books which is an easy and intriguing read, one where I want to crawl inside and be a part of. This book has it all; it's adventurous, chivalrous, a slow burn romance, full of flashbacks, romance, mystery, adventure and so much more. I found myself writing down questions in my arc book journal, "is he the love interest?", "Who's the mystery person?" and "Who is Xander?". There were many chapters and part of this book where I sat with my mouth open. Grayson is definitely a sneaky writer I'll tell you that but it just adds to the story so much more
I am happy to say bookworms that all of the questions in my journal are answered and if I am honest I feel like you need the answers too...but the only way you will do that is by reading it. So what are you waiting for? Go and read it!
