Welcome to my second ARC book and what a book it is!

For me I found this book tied in to quiet a few books and tv series I have read/seen. I found similarities with The Golden Compass, Stranger Things and Harry Potter, so if you are a fan of these then you will love this.

One thing I think is genius is that Marissa has included a page on pronunciations. There is a section on people, places, other and the authors surname (I will admit, I was a little unsure how to pronounce Serrao but now I know its a doddle. It is pronounce Sir-ow) and I love that. There is nothing worse then being unsure how something is pronounced, especially when you are reading the same word over and over again. If you're like me you will pronounce it a different way every time you see the word. Last little thing before we get onto the main event, Marissa names all of her chapters and I love it! Little things makes this Little Book Keeper happy.

Straight away we are thrown in the deep end with no explanation...just how I like it. The details are fabulous, written in first person we get a deep insight into the protagonist and how she is feeling and what she is doing. I think I have mentioned this before on earlier blogs, I sometimes struggle with font in books especially between the normal text and someone thinking. Marissa has made it a breeze seeing the difference between narration and thoughts from the protagonist. As well as the amazing detail we are also introduced to a new species called...did you really think I would tell you? No my dear friend you will have to read it to find out. We do find out our protagonist name but not until page 6, which I thinks adds to the distress that the character is feeling. If you haven't noticed by the title our main character is called Nessa and she is a fifteen year old girl and the first time she speaks she is in conversation with a boy called Rylan. But that is all the information you are getting from me!

Now onto the gritty bit, I love the story, think the characters are amazing, the details written are chefs kiss, adore the use of mythology with some of the creatures, but one thing for me is that whenever Nessa was speaking or something was happening with her I imagined her older than fifteen so for me personally I would have written her slightly older maybe by five ish years maybe less but that is just me. One thing I will be looking forward to is whether there may be some romance, there was some little moments where I thought there would be (links in with me thinking Nessa should be slightly older) but who knows?

Guess we will have to wait and see...

Trigger Warnings: Death of Parents, Flashbacks, Details of Death, Body Possession, Murder, Blood, Detailed Violence, Kidnapping and Mythical Species/Monsters.
