How do you become an Arc reader?

Hi there, on todays blog post I'll be talking about how you can become an Arc reader. I will also be sharing any tips and tricks that I have with you.

What is an Arc reader?

An Arc reader is someone who reads and reviews books ahead of the books publication date. Arc stands for Advanced Reader Copy. Basically you are there to boost up a book so that people buy it when it is available.

Where do you post reviews?

Personally I like to leave my reviews here on my blog, on my bookstagram account (@littlebookkeeper), Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones. Sometimes authors/publishers may ask you to leave a review on Barnes & Noble if they are in the US.

How do you get Arc books?

One of the main things I advice bookworms is to sign up to authors newsletters, 9/10 authors will post on their social media when they are after Arc readers. Another thing that I did was in the search bar on instagram and tiktok I typed in 'Arc Readers Wanted' or just the word 'Arc' and just found something that I was interested in and then either messaged the author or signed up via a link on their account.

There is a website that I use called Book Sirens (https://booksirens.com/become-a-book-reviewer), after you have created a profile you can sign up to Arc books from all genres to read and review. If you have reviewed enough or they are happy with what you have written they will invite you to exclusive groups where the numbers needed to review books is much lower.

Is there any apps that I can use to get Arc's?

There is a app called BookFunnel that you can download, this is how some authors like to send their books to you. They will email you an invitation with a code on it that you need to copy onto the app. It is there where you will be able to read the book. I believe you only have seven days to use the code or you loose the book.

How do I email publishers for Arc books?

The only way I have been able to email publishers is to go onto their websites and find their generic Arc/Proof reader email address or to just use the generic one and then they forward it to where it needs to go. Another way you could do it is either message them on social media directly or ask the author whose book you are hoping to read and review. Please remember to not be disheartened if publishers don't email you back, so far I haven't had a response. You might just get a book through the post shouting "Surprise!".

I really hope this helps, any questions drop them in the comments or message me directly.

Happy Reading!
