Chaos and Crowns by S.C. Grayson

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Book: Chaos and Crowns

Author: S.C. Grayson

Publication Date: 25th July 2023

Book 32 Of The Year

This is my 20th Arc of 2023 and my third eArc from S.C. Grayson. Like my other two reviews I will start by saying thank you for sending me your latest masterpiece to read and review. It is always a pleasure to read your books, they are some of my favourites and I always feel very lucky.

We shift in this book, where I expected Nora to be our leading lady for a second time it is actually her sister Odelle who takes centre stage and what Grayson writes is nothing short of genius.

This for me is the first book where a protagonist is a double amputee with prosthetics and cool ones at that with glitter through them! Like in book 1 of the Defenders of the Light (Spears and Shadows) there is adventure, twists, turns, a fantastical and historical elements, slow burn romance and a peacock because well...they're an necessity too!

Although this is a follow on from Spears and Shadows it is different but in a very good way, we get to see things through the eyes of a news reporter. Grayson's writing like always is easy, seamless and such an amazing read. You can't put down her books and why would you? Like in the first book we get glorious flashbacks to Adams life but in this book we get an insight into our blacksmith, Antony. I love these flashbacks as they build up the characters we don't know much about without giving away too much. There were snippets of this book that make me chuckle like in the first and for one it is the mention of the Trojan House and the Medusa reference, "Curl like snakes around her face.".

Recently I have read numerous books and in them are cave scenes that really twist the plot of the story around. A Court of Mist and Fury, Era of the Moon and now Chaos and Crowns! Makes me want to go into a cave with a love interest to see if sparks fly! For lovers of cinnamon roll characters and The Mortal Instruments this is the book for you! So what are you waiting for, go and read it!!

Trigger Warning: Weapons, Blood, Injury, Death, Violence, Swearing, Murder, Near Death Experiences, Sex, Gore and Graphic Details and Drowning.

Happy Reading!
