Bookish Gifts and PR Boxes

Today is a lovely day to talk about bookish gifts and thank you notes.

I love bookish art work and anything from books so you can image my joy when I am sent character art from the books I have Arc read.

With character art it is always interesting to see just how close you pictured the characters is to how the author has imagined them when they are writing. 9/10 I haven't been too far off but that is down to the amazing author for making it so easy to picture the characters in my head.

The first lot of art I have received was from the amazing Chiara Gala with her book The Goddess and the Hawk. Sent in the form of a PR Box I was sent not just character art but the book itself (which I cherish and love as she wrote me a little not inside), a themed bookmark, a thank you note, crystals and incense sticks which link up with the characters from her book and some stickers. It was such a lovely thing to get through the post and I am forever grateful to Chiara for sending it me.

The second bookish mail I have was sent all the way from the US from the lovely S.C. Grayson. It was a friend of mine who introduced me and encouraged me to sign up to Grayson's Arc Beauty and the Blade, so I am very thankful to her as well for telling me. The character art, the handwritten letter and bookmark...it is chef's kiss! I adored the book, a Victorian take on the classic Beauty and the Beast tale is a genius twist. My favourite fairy tale with a time period that I adore and dream of living in. My family have always said that I was born in the wrong time period.

Next up is the amazing bookish art designed and sent by the fabulous Melanie Bateman with her book Traveler. Her book is sent during World War I, where we follow the character Mark Gilmore. He sets off to bring back a missing military company but is thrown completely off course and finds that his life takes a drastic turn.

The most recent artwork that I have been sent have been from the phenomenal S. Frasher. So story time not only have I been an Arc reader for S but I am also a Beta reader.

"What is a Beta reader?" I hear you say, well as a Beta reader you get a copy of the book before the Arc readers do. It is your job to read through the draft and point out any grammar and spelling errors, any missing plot holes and to just give general feedback for each of the chapters. I adore being a Beta reader, I'll admit my notes can get chaotic as I tend to note down exactly what I am thinking.

Whenever I read back my notes I often have a little giggle to myself. For S I have Arc read Accidental Puck Bunny but then I have Beta read Era of the Moon, Bubble Bubble Toil and Cuddle and her upcoming book which is not to be missed!

Something that is extra special about Era of the Moon is that S included me in her acknowledgements, I will admit it did make me cry.

So I bet you are wondering what it is that I do with all of this art, well currently they decorate my bookshelves and bookcase. Eventually I want to create a gallery wall with all of the bookish things I have and that have been sent to me as gifts. I'd love a cosy library so keep those fingers crossed for me!

I want to take this time to thank all of the authors and publishers that have sent me Arc and Beta books to read and review, it is always a pleasure and an honour.

Thank you to those of you who have sent me these gorgeous bookish goodies and thank you letters, they really do make me smile and are always appreciated.

Happy Reading!
