An Offer From A Gentleman by Julia Quinn

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Book three, An Offer From A Gentleman

Author: Julia Quinn

Publication Date: 3rd July 2001

Publisher: Little, Brown Book Group

By far my favourite of the whole Bridgerton series (Benedict is also my favourite Bridgerton sibling). If you like the fairy tale of Cinderella you will love this novel, this holds a firmer twist in contrast to the classic tale which I think makes this better than the Grimm tale.

A masked ball, a race at midnight and a prison cell and this novel quickly becomes something more than Cinderella ever was. Sophie the bastard daughter of a deceased Earl, who is forced to become the maid to her step-mother and her step-sisters. As I read this novel I found myself really feeling sorry for Sophie and the life she is forced into after loosing somebody very near and dear to her. But I do believe she does find the perfect gentleman to take her in and make her the woman she was always destined to be.

One thing that did annoy me with this novel was how insistent Benedict was at having a mistress, constantly asking a lovely lady which in the end caused me to not like him as much as I did at the beginning of the novel. But he quickly redeemed himself which put him back onto the top spot for me personally.

Trigger Warning: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Death of a parent and attempted rape.

Happy Reading!
