Book 5 Of The Year

First things first...I need a sequel. Like right now please and thank you! Ah I loved this book so much, when Booksirens reached out with this book I just knew I needed to read it. By far on par with S.C. Greyson's Beauty and the Blade (released 26th January 2023) as my favourite arc book of the year so far!

Now lets talk, the main thing I loved about this book was our protagonist Josyn. We start the book with a big boom, straight away we find that Josyn is cursed with blindness...but with a twist (No spoilers here my friends)

This for me is the first book where there has been a character with a disability, it's also the first one I have read where a character is blind. Having friends who are blind and have disabilities it is lovely to see that Josyn doesn't let her disability stop her, she carries on regardless and doesn't let it phase her just like my friends. The imagery in this book is magnificent, you feel as though you are a part of this amazing world that Jen has created and that as we know is one of my favourite things about reading.

Now we all love a good enemies to lovers trope am I right? Bit of sibling squabbling? Slow burn romance? Suspicious lords and ladies? Balls and dancing? Well this has it and so much more. A handful of spicy scenes work their way through this book which I think just develops the characters involved further and also unravels some truths that are at the start kept in the dark. For me chapter 19 is chefs kiss and makes me feel giddy for the characters in the chapter. also makes me want what they have. Why do some books give you unrealistic expectations of falling in love?! Like I would love what they have!! Also my favourite flower was already a peony but even more so now...does anyone want to give me one? (If you know, you know!)

Most underrated character in this book has to be Josyn's trusty made Milli, that woman is the equivalent of a woman with just a name stalking social media...we find out everything just like she does and I think it is brilliant! The power that the women have in this book makes me extremely happy, for so long women have been described as the delicate flower well not in this book these women fight back. I mean Josyn learns to fight whilst blind...now that is badass!

All of this along with an amazing storyline gives this book a strong 5 star review from me, also earning a spot in my top three arc books of the year so far! I could go on and on about this book all day, it is a work of art and I can not wait to own a physical copy and see it on my bookcase.
