For those of you who have read this book, hi, welcome! Here is my review of A Court of Thorns and Roses by the amazingly talented Sarah J.Maas.
To start who doesn't love a little Fae spin on Beauty and the Beast? I know I do! Sarah throws us straight to the wolves at the beginning of this novel (Ha! I promise that pun was not intended...did make me smile though) and leaves us there to come out as the alpha.
Ok so I love this book, it was one that kept popping up on instagram, tiktok, the lot all the time so I thought 'this must be fate, I think I need to read this series'. Let me tell you I am glad I did, this series is one of my favourites...but (and it is a big but) I feel like Sarah could have cut out a fair chunk of this novel as it does feel as if it is going on slightly in some parts and becomes a bit slow for my liking. This is my own opinion so please don't let what I have said stop you from reading this series, I would hate to think I had put you off. There are some absolutely amazing and crucial parts in this book that just gives it that bit more humph, for example the chapter where Feyre wakes up to Tamlin and Lucien hefting the fae with the wings as he dies and sees how Tamlin tries to help just kind of twists her feelings slightly I find personally.
By far my favourite character not just in this book but the entire series has to be The Suriel (IYKYK) they really do spill the tea on information that changes Feyre's course drastically. Of course we have the ending that we have but there is one part that blew my mind the second time I read this book. When Feyre and Rhysand meet at the end and Rhys flies off he looks at her and stumbles backwards...do you know why? Because I have a theory and it could be wrong or it could be right but I think it was the bond snapping for him when he looked at Feyre...I felt stupid when I didn't realise this the first time around and it took me a second read to realise.
All in all I honestly don't mind this book but it does feel like a chore to read up until Feyre walks under the mountain, another thing to note if you look at the map at the beginning of each of these books you will find that locations are added to the map every time Feyre discovers somewhere new. I didn't know this until I watched a interview with Sarah and it kind of blew my mind, I think its such a nice detail to look out for in every book.
